SENIOR PORTRAITS

Seniors, if you have not yet selected your yearbook picture, the date to choose one has been moved to Thanksgiving in order to allow us to make our yearbook deadline. Please be sure to log on to the system and select your picture by Thanksgiving break or the selection will be made for you. You MUST select a blue background, head-and-shoulders shot for the yearbook. If you have not gotten your senior portrait taken already for the yearbook, a member of the yearbook staff will be contacting you in the next couple of weeks about your options.

Amnesty's annual FreeRice.com competition is back! Want to earn extra spirit points from Student Congress for your class? You have until Friday morning to visit FreeRice.com. Login with username: SpiritWeek2013 and password: Ledyard. Under Groups, click on your class and then play. Answer as many questions as you can about a variety of topics. FreeRice.com will donate more rice for every answer you get correct. Donated rice is used in disaster relief situations.

Homecoming Dance!

The LHS Homecoming Dance will be held on October 26th. Ticket sales begin on October 15th are $8 each. If you would like to bring a non-LHS student as a guest you must submit a form to the APO in advance. The Dance Guest form can be found on the LHS website or in the main office.

Senior Sunrise THIS FRIDAY

The senior class of 2014 will be holding their SENIOR SUNRISE this Friday, Aug. 30th at Colonel Ledyard Park at 6am. This special event allows the senior to kick off the year and come together as a class for donuts and coffee. Be a part from the start and attend your SENIOR SUNRISE this Friday at 6am. A class picture will be taken, so don't miss out on this special moment.

Senior Portraits

Senior advisory teachers,

Happy back to school! This year, senior portraits are scheduled very early. They will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, September 3rd and 4th. I am attaching the list so you can inform your students of their scheduled times. Only 41% of the class took advantage of the summer slots, so we need to get as many as possible done now to avoid problems in October. Please check the list for any of your advisory students and inform them of their times. You can direct any questions they have to me. Thank you so much for your help.

Final Exam Schedule

Monday - regular Monday schedule
Tuesday - exams for block's 1 and 2
Wednesday - exams for block's 3 and 4
Thursday - exams for block's 5 and 6
Friday - exams for block's 7 and 8

Exams are 90 minutes. Dismissal is at 11:00. If you don't have an exam, you don't have to be here; you may leave early or arrive late. If you come in late, be sure to be here by 9:00 am. If you are out, schedule makeup exams with your teachers after 11:00 any day.

Assembly Wednesday

During AIM 60 on Wednesday there will be an assembly in the auditorium for most of the school. (Several advisories are participating in a survey instead.)

LHS class of 1987 alumna Beth Brundage Murphy and her work will be the focus. Beth is a very successful documentary filmmaker and she will show us clips from her latest project, What Tomorrow Brings.

What Tomorrow Brings is about the extremely complicated issue of educating girls in Afghanistan. Beth returned from filming earlier this month and LHS will be the first to see her footage.

We are going to the cafeteria. There are two parts to the session: 1) a "class meeting" and 2) elections.
