Spanish Club

For the next Activity Day, Spanish Club will be playing Christmas Spanish games (bingo, pictionary, etc.) for candy prizes. Interested students should sign up by Tuesday either with you (pass their names on to me) or with me. The first 25 who sign up can participate, as always. Thanks!

Amnesty Movie Night Tonight @ 6pm

Join Amnesty International Club for free pizza, a movie and discussion.  Stop by the media center at 6:00 this Friday to watch the screening of the film Hotel Rwanda, a movie based on the true story of the Rwanda Genocide.  We will also be selling our new Amnesty shirts for $8 each. WEDNESDAY - Bus Evacuation Drill for Ledyard Buses Only

On Wednesday (11/2) Ledyard Transport will conduct emergency evacuation drills in the morning as they arrive to school for Ledyard buses only. Mr. Winters. Mr. Turner and Mr. Gabordi will assist the bus drivers during the evacuation drills. Your cooperation in following the bus driver’s directions and exiting the bus in an orderly manner is appreciated. If you have a physical condition that would prevent you from exiting the back of the bus, please notify your driver as soon as possible. This drill will be conducted on Ledyard buses only.

Operation Smile - See Jordan!

Interested in transforming children's lives and helping them to smile?  Interested in a fun service opportunity?  If so, come to the first meeting of Operation Smile, a service organization devoted to raising money for children with facial deformities such as cleft lips and cleft palates.  With the support of this organization, thousands of smiles can be healed through reconstructive surgery.  The first meeting will be in room 310 during Wednesday's Activity Period.  More information about the organization will be shared at this time, and officers will be elected for LHS's first Operation Smile.  If you're looking for a rewarding project, as well as an opportunity for community service, this club may be for you!

Sugar Skulls with Spanish Club

The next Activity Day is Wed. Nov. 2nd. Spanish Club will be decorating sugar skulls to commemorate El Día de los Muertos. Skulls will be pre-made (by Mrs. Anderson) and icing and other decorations will be provided. All the students need to bring is a true interest in the activity and some creativity. Sign up in 205 with Mrs. Anderson. First come first served.

Pink Out!

The Key Club at LHS has organized a fundraiser for the Susan G. Komen Fight for the Cure this week. Each MM will receive a collection bag today, (some were already placed in rooms on Friday afternoon) for students to place donations in. A set of directions has been placed in the bag to help you review the goal of this event, to help raise money for Breast Cancer research. EVERY MM that raises $50 will receive pink cupcakes. On Wednesday, October 19th, we will hold a Pink Out at LHS. We hope to see all LHS students and staff dressed in PINK.

Spirit Week Info

Spirit Week runs from Oct 11th through Oct 14th culminating with the fall pep rally from 1-2pm on Friday the 14th.  The pep rally will take place in the main gym this year.

The dress-up days are as follows:

  • Tuesday = Dress like your favorite sports team day
  • Wednesday = Hawaiian day
  • Thursday = Mix-match (aka mis-match) day
  • Friday is class color day! 
The class with the most members dressed accordingly will be awarded spirit points.

This year the hallways/doors will be decorated on Tuesday Oct. 12th. We will run an activity period schedule and have an extended morning meeting. This year’s theme is LEDYARD/COLONEL PRIDE! Each class is being given the same materials (all blue and white items) and the class with the most creative use of said materials will be awarded the spirit points for that activity. For each activity there are points for second, third and fourth place as well. The materials are being divided by the class officers and will be sent to morning meetings by Tuesday via the class advisors/officers.
